On the 24th of May in 1998, some active individuals met at
Mallia and created the Emigrants and Friends Association of
Mallia.
The aims of the Association are: the promotion of friendship,
collaboration, mutualism, the growth of the community and
the intellectual communication of the members between them
and with the remaining persons of the village.
The pointing out, the promotion and the resolution of the
special and the general problems of the community, in collaboration
with the Community Council, the residents and the associations
of the village.
More efforts, for the growth and the progress of the village
with the realization of necessary work of infrastructure,
for the exploitation of the village, as a model of a rural
resort or as space of permanent stay and the creation of works
for the growth of production and the economy of village.
The fight against urbanism and the effort for the return and
installation of young persons as permanent or seasonal residents
at the village.
The support for every effort for educative and intellectual
movement in the village, the intellectual and scientific culture
and the reinforcement and assistance of the generally social
progress.
The maintenance of the customs, in the frames of the genuine
local popular tradition.
The publication of informative and other enlightening bulletins
or texts concerning the problems and the news of the village
and more generally the projection, the progress, the prosperity
and the growth of Mallia.
The collaboration with other Emigrant Associations in Cyprus
and abroad, as well as with the Emigrants Service of the Republic
of Cyprus.
The Emigrants and Friends Association of Mallia, concerning
its activities for the achievement of its objectives, organizes
each year, Christmas and Easter events, that take place in
the community as well as an annual dancing party that takes
place on the first Saturday of August. Also it often organizes
expeditions of cleanness, plantings of trees and blood donations.
However the big help and contribution of the association appears
with its factual help to the Community council, where some
members of the association are found in the council in their
common effort for the upgrading of the community.
The current administrative council of the Emigrants and Friends
Association of Mallia is constituted from the following people:
